Collaborating Physician

Dr. Alexander Moxam serves as the collaborating physician for Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc., providing consultation to support clinical decision-making and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with California's collaborative practice model. While he does not provide direct patient care through the practice, his expertise supports our commitment to safe, thoughtful, and individualized psychiatric care.

Dr. Moxam is the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Cottage Health. Prior to joining Cottage Health, he served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Medical Director of the First Episode Psychosis Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

He earned his bachelor's degree from Eckerd College and his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at CHOP, where he also served as Outpatient Chief Fellow. Dr. Moxam is board certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

His clinical and research interests include early identification and treatment of psychosis, psychopharmacology, and reducing health disparities in psychiatric care. His work has been published in Schizophrenia Research, Journal of Hospital Medicine, and Early Intervention in Psychiatry. He has been recognized with the Kenneth Gordon, Jr., M.D. Memorial Award and the Elizabeth B. Weller, MD Distinguished Fellow Award, and is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
